Chandra Shekhar Azad accused of violating Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code that prevents large gatherings.

The case was lodged after a day Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Azad visited the family of the woman who died on September 29 after being allegedly assaulted and gang-raped by four men on september 14.

An FIR has also been registered against Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) vice-president Jayant Chaudhary under Section 188 of the IPC and 400 others for violating Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

UP Police lathicharge on the Jayant Chaudhary and he was protected by the workers, who formed a shield around him.

After meeting the family, Mr. Azad had demanded an investigation by a retired judge of the Supreme Court in a time-bound manner saying that the Central Bureau of Investigation was being used only to scare people under the current political dispensation at the Centre. He also called for security cover for them. He said “I demand that the government arranges Y-level security for the victim’s family. 

On Sunday, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra too had asked why the government was talking about a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry but continuing with the probe by special investigation team, even though the family has asked for a judicial investigation monitored by a Supreme Court judge.
